Selcuk Uluagac Wins IEEE Outstanding Engineering Educator Award

Selcuk Uluagac, a professor at Florida International University, received the IEEE Region 3 Outstanding Engineering Educator Award for his contributions to teaching and mentoring in engineering and cybersecurity.

He directs FIU’s Cyber-Physical Systems Security Lab and has mentored over 80 students, many of whom have gone on to work at major organizations like Google, the FBI, and DHS. His research focuses on improving the security and privacy of smart devices and IoT systems, with support from agencies like the NSF and companies like Microsoft and Cisco.

In addition to his research, he has launched multiple education and workforce initiatives, helping train hundreds in cybersecurity. This award adds to several previous honors recognizing his impact in research, education, and student mentorship.
