Dr. Sukumar Ganapati is a Professor in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at FIU, where he has been since 2004. He earned his Ph.D. in Planning from the University of Southern California and has served as Director of the Ph.D. program in Public Affairs and Chair of the American Society for Public Administration’s Section on Science and Technology in Government. Previously, he was Assistant Director of the Center for International Policy, Planning, and Development at USC and has taught urban planning at several universities. His research focuses on digital and local governance, including cybersecurity, agile government, technology in public service, open government, and local governance. He has published extensively and received awards such as the Chester Rapkin Award Honorable Mention and the Jorge E. Hardoy Memorial Prize. Dr. Ganapati’s sponsored research totals over $2 million, including projects funded by the NSF and Cyber Florida. He has co-edited journal special issues and co-chaired several conferences, including the Southeastern Conference on Public Administration and dgo.2023.
